Extreme Shoring - Laying Oversized Pipe

In order to accommodate contractors when laying 72-inch pipe in 40-foot sections, a custom shoring solution was necessary. A 50-foot long, 10-foot high steel trench box with 12-inch thick sidewalls was engineered and fabricated to do the job. Each trench box also had a 5-pipe independent spreader system. The design, engineering and other resources from TrenchTech, Inc. were called upon to meet all of the requirements of this project. 3.3 miles of this 72-inch pipe was successfully installed through fast-moving, sandy soil and several areas that had very limited access.
